Why Did You Become a Doctor?

I am a first-generation American, and my parents are Holocaust survivors. They arrived in the United States with no money and minimal formal education, yet through extraordinary hard work and sacrifice, they created opportunities for me that they themselves never had. They valued education above all else, and I became the first in my family to earn a graduate degree.

When I was twelve years old, I was hospitalized for two weeks with a bleeding gastric ulcer, an experience that profoundly shaped my life. During that time, I became fascinated by the human body and knew that I wanted to become a physician. I have always been driven by a desire to help others and by an insatiable curiosity about every aspect of human health.

What Made You Focus on OB/GYN?

During my third year of medical school, I witnessed the birth of my nephew, Evan. It was a life-changing experience that made me realize I wanted to deliver babies. When I completed my OB/GYN rotation, I discovered that the specialty is a beautiful blend of primary care, radiology, dermatology, and surgery, encompassing every aspect of healthcare. Combined with the privilege of delivering babies and caring for women across the entirety of their lives, OB/GYN became the only choice for me. It is an honor to care for women of all ages, and the work is never boring.

What Is Your Approach to Medicine?

I care for my patients the same way I would want my own family members to be cared for. My priority is building trust and creating a safe, judgment-free environment in which patients feel comfortable asking questions and sharing concerns openly. I believe it is essential to explain medical issues in clear, simple terms so patients leave their appointments understanding not only their diagnosis, but also the plan of care and the steps we will take together. I treat every patient with the respect, empathy, and kindness they deserve.

How Would You Define Patient Care?

Caring for patients means caring for the whole person. I strive to understand not only their medical concerns, but also who they are as individuals. I believe in partnering with my patients, offering evidence-based guidance that is thoughtfully tailored to their unique needs and circumstances. My patients know that I genuinely care about them and about their overall health and well-being.

Do You Do Any Philanthropic Work?

I co-chaired the Community Health Board at Northern Westchester Hospital and helped launch an adolescent mental health facility in Mt. Kisco, New York. Our committee also spearheaded initiatives to support underserved populations, including blood pressure screenings and COVID-19 and influenza vaccination efforts.

While serving as Medical Director of the American Cancer Society, Westchester Branch, I lectured for many years at prisons and local community centers on breast and cervical cancer screening and prevention. In addition, I have spoken at numerous public events focused on cancer prevention, early detection, and education.
